The origins of Solar Wind Sailing Tours
Zonnewind Zeilreizen has its origins in 1982, when Frans and Frouke Fischer settled in Harlingen to specialize in charter sailing. With the tjalk Orion they organized the first sailing trips, laying the foundation for the family business.
In 1993, the clipper Passaat joined the fleet, a ship that has played an important role in passenger shipping ever since.
In 1999, the renovated clipper Poseidon was added, further expanding the fleet.
On Aug. 1, 2015, the clipper Aldebaran became part of Zonnewind Zeilreizen, under the direction of Frank Fischer.
As of January 1, 2021, the company will be continued by Frank Fischer and Natalja Piebenga, who will continue the tradition of Solar Wind with dedication and passion.

Zonnewind Zeilreizen has its origins in 1982. That is the year when Frans and Frouke Fischer came to Harlingen especially for charter sailing. At that time, the tjalk Orion was used for sailing trips. Since 1993, however, the Passaat has been serving passenger shipping. In 1999 Zonnewind added the completely renovated Poseidon to its fleet, and as of August 1, 2015 the clipper Aldebaran was purchased by Frank and has also been sailing with Zonnewind Zeilreizen since that day. As of January 1, 2021 Zonnewind Zeilreizen has been continued by Frank Fischer & Natalja Piebenga
You can book with us in two different ways. For individual trips you can look at Arrangements Prefer a customized trip? Send us an email with the number of people, suitable dates and wishes. Our staff is ready to put together your ideal trip.
You do not need any sailing experience. The crew of the Aldebaran and the Passaat will be happy to teach you the ins and outs of sailing a historic ship.
