The history of the Passaat
The Passaat is a magnificent clipper that has its origins in 1900. Built at the yard of the Boot Brothers in Leiderdorp, she began her adventure under the name Margiena, named after the founders Marinus and Giena Boertien. Originally used for cargo shipping, the ship sailed for many years on the big rivers, but after a thorough renovation in 1992 she was given a new life as a sailing clipper.
Now the Passaat is a symbol of history and adventure on the water, with a modern look, ideal for a pleasant and relaxing sailing experience on the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea.
